A useful fit for

A fixed desk setup where a weighted base, adjustable laptop height and angle, 5 kg documented device ceiling, and a small tray for desk items suit the available work surface.

The main tradeoff

The 1,083 g stand is a substantial desk object even though the maker says it folds. Its 60 cm elevation claim is not accompanied by a low-to-high range or reference point, and the listed 25.9 cm overall height makes that wording unsuitable as a precise screen-rise measurement. No laptop-footprint chart or folded dimensions are published.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can this stand hold a heavier laptop?

Native Union lists a maximum device load of 5 kg and specifically names 16-inch MacBook Pro and 17-inch Alienware examples. That is a weight ceiling, not a footprint, vent, foot-placement or case-clearance chart; compare the exact laptop base with the arm and tray before relying on a broad compatibility label.

Does the height-adjustable option satisfy a desk setup?

The manufacturer describes adjustable height and angle and says the laptop or tablet can be raised up to 60 cm. It does not publish a low-to-high adjustment span or the measurement reference point, so treat height adjustment as documented but measure your own screen target rather than treating 60 cm as a verified screen rise.

Can I pack this desk stand for travel?

The product page calls it foldable, so it meets a fold-to-pack requirement, but its listed weight is 1,083 g and no folded dimensions or carry pouch are specified. A foldable desk base is not automatically a convenient daily travel stand; check bag size and whether you want to carry a weighted base.

This assessment is based on Native Union’s current U.S. product page, support FAQ and finish data, not hands-on use. The Desk Laptop Stand is a substantial, adjustable desktop assembly: a weighted base and articulated arm hold an open laptop above a tray that also serves as a small place for desk items. Native Union lists a 5 kg device ceiling and examples that include a 16-inch MacBook Pro and 17-inch Alienware. The important practical question is not simply whether the screen diagonal falls within that list, but whether the laptop’s feet, underside, case and center of mass meet the actual support surface.

A desk stand built around a weighted base

The product is meant to stay in a work area more than to disappear into a laptop sleeve. Its arm is adjustable in height and angle, and the manufacturer describes strong hinges, a weighted base and nonslip silicone grip. Those choices suggest a different use from a thin riser: raise the screen while leaving the laptop open, then use the keyboard and trackpad arrangement that fits your reach. At the highest position, many people will find a separate keyboard and pointing device more practical than reaching up to the laptop keyboard, but that is a workspace-planning implication, not a product test.

Native Union says it can raise a device up to 60 cm. The same page separately lists overall product height as 10.2 inches (25.9 cm), without a low-to-high span or a reference point that explains the 60 cm statement. Treat height adjustment as a documented feature; do not treat 60 cm as a precise screen-rise measurement. If your setup depends on a particular display height, measure your seated or standing position and confirm the range with the manufacturer before ordering.

Tray and materials affect the desk fit

The standard model has a fabric-covered tray with a pen holder. Native Union identifies the surface as 100% recycled rPET fabric, alongside aluminum, PC and silicone in the materials list. That extra surface is part of the product’s footprint: measure the usable area on your desk, not just the laptop’s base. It can give small items a defined place, but it is not a keyboard shelf, a cable channel or a second laptop platform. The maker’s page lists the stand at 38.2 ounces (1,083 g), a useful reminder that the base is a fixed object even though the arm folds.

The current page offers Black, Sandstone and Slate Green, with separate SKUs HOME-STAND-BLK, HOME-STAND-SAN and HOME-STAND-GRN. The reviewed product data does not identify a mechanism or capacity change among those colors. Native Union also sells a separately named Desk Laptop Stand Wood; that is more than a color option because it specifies genuine walnut or ash for the working surface. Compare the two assessments if material choice matters.

Compatibility is broad, but not a footprint guarantee

The maker calls the stand compatible with all laptops and tablets up to 5 kg, and its FAQ provides several named examples. That is stronger evidence than an unqualified “universal” label, but it still does not provide a chassis-width and depth chart or a placement diagram for the laptop’s feet. A heavy 17-inch computer can be below the weight limit and still be a poor match if its base does not sit securely on the support. Check the underside vents, rubber feet, case, and the amount of table space left around the base. If any dimension is close, ask Native Union about the exact laptop model rather than relying on a product photo.

Foldable does not mean light to carry

The stand is described as foldable, so it meets a requirement that the support close for packing or storage. But its listed mass is more than a kilogram, and the reviewed page does not give folded dimensions or list a carrying pouch. That makes “foldable” and “easy to commute with” separate decisions. Before using it as a travel option, compare the folded unit with your bag compartment and decide whether the weighted base is acceptable to carry. For a bag-first routine, Native Union’s independent Fold stand is a different, fixed-angle design; its own published weight values conflict, so that comparison also needs a caveat.

Who should compare this model

The standard Desk Laptop Stand is most relevant to a user who wants a height- and angle-adjustable laptop platform that can remain assembled at a desk, values a padded tray surface, and can work within the 5 kg stated device limit. It is less suitable when a tiny packed profile, published folded dimensions, a precise screen-rise range, a swivel base or laptop-specific footprint confirmation is essential. The manufacturer page also notes that its hinges are intentionally firm; the author did not measure force or test stability, so treat that as product guidance rather than a performance verdict.

For the exact unit, confirm the finish and SKU, the laptop’s loaded weight, the desk area available for the base and tray, and the adjustment height you can actually use. If you want wood rather than the recycled-fabric surface, compare the distinct Wood version. If portability is more important than height adjustment, compare Fold. These are research-based distinctions from the current manufacturer material; they are not a claim that a particular laptop, desk or posture has been personally tested.
