About Standwise
Independent decisions from named product evidence.
Standwise is an English-language research project about passive supports for laptop computers. The category includes stands that carry the notebook body, whether they lift an open computer for desk use or hold it vertically in a documented desktop arrangement. Monitor arms, hubs and tablet-only supports are outside this scope.
How an assessment is made
We start with the manufacturer's product catalogue and exact product page, record model and configuration identity, then compare claims against the product's visible design and any relevant official instructions. Distinct mechanisms stay distinct. A color change may share an assessment; a different base, hinge or operating arrangement may not.
Specifications are not silently completed from a similar model. Unknown fit limits remain unknown, and contradictions are called out rather than smoothed over. A manufacturer's performance statement is attributed as a claim unless an independent test supports more.
Research is not hands-on testing
Our product assessments are based on documents, product-page evidence and visual inspection of cited images. They do not imply that an author owns or has used a stand, tested typing stability, measured temperatures, or surveyed customers. When a model needs physical fit confirmation, the assessment says so.
Catalogue scope
The library covers the specific product families and model editions described in these assessments. It is not an exhaustive record of every historical product or retailer offer. Individual reviews identify where model edition, package contents, availability or fit information is uncertain.
