A useful fit for

A desk stand for an open laptop when documented platform-height adjustment and an integrated USB hub matter, and the work surface is at least 460 mm deep.

The main tradeoff

Requires at least 460 mm desk depth and separate keyboard and mouse; its USB-C charger is not included, its maximum-width claim is not a fit chart, and folded size and stand mass are not published.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How high can Lana’s laptop platform adjust?

The U.S. price book gives a 185–365 mm (7.28–14.37 in) platform-height range. This is not the final screen-top height for every laptop; check your device, separate keyboard position and desired viewing line.

Will Lana fit a compact desk and my laptop?

Herman Miller specifies at least 460 mm / 18.11 in of worksurface depth and up to 16 inches wide / 5.5 lb. The product sheet does not define the basis of its “16-inch” wording, and there is no chassis or foot-contact chart; measure before purchase.

What do Lana’s USB ports need?

The stand has two USB-A ports and a USB-C power-input port. It includes a USB-C host cable, but the laptop charger is not included; up to 100 W pass-through requires a compatible USB-C charger. Check the laptop host connection and adapter.

Does Lana fold small enough for travel?

The manufacturer says Lana folds up for storage, but the reviewed U.S. sources give no folded dimensions, stand weight or bag-fit chart. Folding supports a travel-oriented filter, not a claim about a particular bag compartment.

Herman Miller’s Lana Laptop Stand (Y92011, called “Lana Laptop Shelf” in the Thrive price book) is the more adjustable and connected of the manufacturer’s two freestanding laptop supports in its U.S. Technology Support catalogue. The 2026 U.S. price book gives a vertical adjustment range of 7.28–14.37 inches (185–365 mm), a minimum worksurface depth of 18.11 inches (460 mm), a support limit of up to 16 inches wide and 5.5 lb, and two USB-A ports plus USB-C power input. Those specifics make Lana easier to assess for a workstation than a simple fixed support, but they do not replace a laptop contact-fit check or guarantee that the raised screen will land at a particular eye height.

Model identity and configuration

The official U.S. price book names the product Lana Laptop Shelf, code Y92011, with black (0H) and white (0J) finish options. Herman Miller’s product page calls it Lana Laptop Stand and describes a folding, adjustable support with an integrated USB hub. The 2025 product sheet depicts the same named stand and repeats the adjustment, connectivity, desk-depth, and charging details. This review treats those names and the shared Y92011 code as one stand family; a finish choice does not change the mechanism documented in these sources.

Measure the desk and the laptop platform

The listed vertical adjustment runs from 185 mm (7.28 in) to 365 mm (14.37 in). This is the stand’s platform-height range, not a predicted display-top height: the laptop’s own size, hinge geometry, and placement determine where its screen ends up. Herman Miller’s price book also sets a minimum worksurface depth of 460 mm (18.11 in). That is a meaningful threshold for a compact desk, and it should be checked before considering the model. The source does not give a minimum desk width, a complete base footprint in the price-book text, or the clearance needed around a chosen keyboard and mouse.

The same price book says the stand holds laptops up to 16 inches wide and up to 5.5 lb. The product sheet instead says “up to 16” without specifying whether that means screen diagonal or body width. These phrases do not establish one universal laptop-size rule, and neither source supplies a contact-point diagram or compatibility list. Measure the laptop’s full width and depth, underside feet, case edges, and any vents near its support points. If a 16-inch device is close to the limit, ask the seller or manufacturer to confirm the exact body dimensions rather than treating a screen-size label as a fit guarantee.

Adjustment is useful only with a separate input setup

Lana is intended to elevate an open laptop while an external wireless or Bluetooth-enabled keyboard and mouse are used. Herman Miller’s price book explicitly says those input devices are required and not included. This is a raised-laptop layout, not a full desk arrangement by itself. Its platform can be changed within the stated vertical range, but the materials do not list fixed detents or a number of preset positions. Do not translate the range into a promise that every laptop can be placed at every height while typing; use the keyboard separately and check how the screen and support feel in the intended workspace.

Understand the ports and power supply

The price book lists two USB-A ports for wireless keyboard and mouse connection, a USB-C port for a laptop charger, and an included USB-C cable that connects the stand to the laptop. The charger is not included. With a USB-C laptop charger, the USB-C port can provide up to 100 W of pass-through charging. That is a maximum stated capability, not a guarantee that a particular laptop, host connection, and power adapter will negotiate or deliver the same power. Confirm that the laptop supports the needed USB-C connection, that the charger is appropriate, and that the package contains the host cable described in the current offer. The USB-A ports expand connection options, but the documents do not say they replace the laptop’s own power supply.

Folds away, but no packing envelope is published

Herman Miller says Lana folds up and stores away, which supports a folding-travel choice in the site’s questionnaire. The reviewed U.S. materials do not provide a folded envelope, carry weight, or bag fit. The folding statement therefore should not be read as proof that the stand belongs in a small commuter compartment. For a travel decision, compare the actual folded model and complete packed setup with the space you have; the minimum 460 mm desk-depth condition remains relevant when you unfold it at a workstation.

What is and is not established

The product sheet states a five-year warranty. The U.S. sources reviewed do not state the stand’s mass, a material composition, a laptop underside fit chart, lap support, or a rotating base. Those features are left unknown rather than inferred from photographs or from the “ergonomic” description. The page’s posture language is a manufacturer benefit claim, not the result of a hands-on assessment by this site. This review contains no independent stability test, ergonomic measurement, ownership report, price comparison, or present-tense availability claim.

How it compares with Oripura

Oripura is the simpler folding Herman Miller stand: its GSA page gives an 8⅜ × 10⅜ × ⅜-inch folded envelope and a 0.9 lb stand mass, while not publishing a height adjustment range or built-in ports. Lana’s differentiators are its stated 185–365 mm platform adjustment and integrated USB connections; its tradeoffs include desk depth, external keyboard-and-mouse requirements, an unbundled charger, and missing packed dimensions and stand weight. Both product families require the exact laptop fit to be checked, and neither source set documents lap use or a swivel base.

Bottom line

Choose Lana for further comparison if height-adjustable laptop support and integrated USB-A connections are priorities and your desk is at least 460 mm deep. Check the exact laptop body against the up-to-16-inch-wide, 5.5-pound limit, leave room for a separate keyboard and mouse, and plan for a compatible USB-C charger that is not included. If you need a known light carry mass or numeric folded size, the reviewed U.S. sources do not provide one; verify before treating Lana as a travel-friendly package.
